Enter the beautiful Art Deco Leeton Museum and Gallery showcasing the creation of the food bowl’s Murrumbidgee Irrigation Scheme and diverse agricultural schemes including citrus and rice.
Farming enthusiasts are history buffs are encouraged to check out Yanco’s Agricultural Institute originally founded as a new and experimental farm in 1908 – but repurposed over time to house delinquent boys, as a Prisoner of War Camp, and a training ground for soldiers during WWII.
Are you a Ned Kelly fan? Follow in his footsteps with an education a tour of the Ned Kelly Rail Trail’ at Jerilderie, featuring the six buildings Kelly and his gang visited while in NSW, all of which are still standing!
These Murrumbidgee Trails sits atop Wiradjuri and Waddi lands and rivers. Visit the Waddi Heritage and Cultural Centre in Darlington Point featuring ‘Warangesda’ and local cultural artworks and stories. Or watch on as Wiradjuri Elder Michael Lyons, crafts a boomerang at Sandhills Artefacts. Join Mark Saddlers, as he shares his knowledge of the Wiradjuri culture and significant sites including Galore Hill, through the Bundyi Cultural Tours.
If you are eager to hit the pavement and take in the sights, wander the many trails including Lockhart’s impressive Sculpture and Heritage Trail, the Rock Heritage Trail through Leeton, or enjoy the historical trail through The Rock lined with old Federation shopfronts and churches especially along the Avenue of Honour.
